Ed Krajcir, Managing Director

Ed has extensive experience in leading teams and running businesses.  In corporate America he ran divisions, both domestically and internationally, for the largest gas distribution contractor in the Country.  Ed has also run divisions for an OEM and a contract packaging company.   In ownership has been involved in real estate, multiple startup companies and business acquisitions. Over the past 20 years, as the managing partner of a business brokerage firm, Ed has been involved in over 200 main street and lower middle market transactions. Ed is also the managing director of Valens Capital, a private equity company focused on the acquisition, development and management of cardiovascular ambulatory surgery centers and office-based laboratories. Earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Ken Demske, Business Development Advisor

Jim Gaulke, M&A Advisor

Jim Gaulke joined Sunbelt in 2005 after owning his first business and was with Sunbelt until 2010. In 2010 Jim left the industry after buying his second business. After the sale of his second business in 2019 Jim rejoined the team. Jim has owned both franchise and non-franchise businesses and brings a wealth of firsthand knowledge of business buying and selling.

Jim brings years of broker experience, twenty-eight years of business ownership experience and a unique perspective of being personally involved in buying and selling two of his own businesses.

During Jim’s time as a business owner, he took two businesses from the brink of bankruptcy back to profitability. Jim owned a retail power equipment business that went from insolvency to the top 2% in sales volume in the industry.

Jim likes to spend time volunteering with the VA hospital in Milwaukee, Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, spending time with family and grandchildren, and church activities.  Jim is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys downhill skiing, bicycle riding, and bow hunting.

Alex Karl, Analyst

Alex joined Valens M&A as an analyst in 2021, where he serves in a deal support role for all transactions. He is responsible for company and industry research, financial analysis, coordinating marketing and outreach efforts, and assisting deals through due diligence. Prior to joining Valens, Alex worked in the food industry where he quickly moved up the ranks while learning the art of good customer service.

Alex graduated from high school in 2021 with honors and he is now a student at Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota. He plans to graduate with a major in Entrepreneurial Management and a minor in Business Analytics.

In Alex’s spare time, he enjoys playing all kinds of sports and is a member of the fraternity Delta Tau Delta.

Stacie Krajcir, Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer of Valens M&A, Stacie is responsible for the day-to-day operations and managing the company’s KPIs. 

She started her career with a Fortune 500 insurance brokerage firm where her focus was on the aerospace industry.  She quickly sharpened her negotiating skills with the responsibility of negotiating with Governments around the world on behalf of large US defense contractors.  Stacie then left Corporate America to become a business owner, which has given her unique perspective in assisting people in buying or selling a business. 

In addition to her internal company responsibilities, Stacie provides M&A advisory and value-enhancement services to lower-middle market businesses.

Stacie has 4 children, enjoys playing golf with her husband and friends, and enjoys watching a lot of club volleyball!

Mark Kuether, M&A Advisor

With more than 17 years of experience in transactional work, Mark can guide you through the oft-times emotional process with a steady hand and reasoned insight.

Mark is a family man, in the middle of raising 6 children with his very patient wife and trying to keep up with all their activities. He enjoys sports of all kinds (often to his wife’s irritation) and anything related to technology or science. He believes humor is essential to life – again often to his wife’s irritation. Bob Wood, Business Development Advisor

Bob Wood is an experienced businessman who has joined the team as a certified business advisor. He is based in Madison to negotiate deals in the Central Wisconsin area. Bob brings a wealth of experience from a variety of industries. After attending several years of college, he began working in the electrical industry in Chicago, for Steiner Electric Supply and Frontier Electric Supply.  Bob has experience being a truck driver, purchasing agent and inside salesman. Upon relocating to Wisconsin, he worked as an outside salesman for BJ Electric Supply as well as Interstate Electric Supply.

While working in the electric industry, he pursued his hobby of building houses on the weekends. This turned into a full-time job when he started a company in the home remodeling and building arena.

During this time, he developed strong relationships with a variety of tradesmen and was given the opportunity to purchase Complete Drywall Services, a company that had been in business 25 years. While under his leadership, Complete Drywall doubled sales from $800,000 to $1.8 million. He has a true Entrepreneurial spirit.

Bob is an avid outdoorsman, solves the occasional crossword puzzle, makes a mean homemade deep-dish pizza, and stays involved in construction by assisting family and friends.

He founded Beacon Business Group in 2006, where he served as managing director of investment banking prior to joining Valens M&A. He has earned the Lifetime Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) and multiple Chairman’s Circle Award designations from the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) and is also an Accredited Business Intermediary with the American Business Brokers Association (ABBA); he has served on the IBBA’s Education Committee and is currently a member of the IBBA Ethics Committee.  A founding member of the Wisconsin chapter of the Midwest Business Brokers & Intermediaries and the ABBA Best Practices Forum, Steve is passionate about his work, helping business owners to plan strategically when deciding to sell or exit their businesses. Sean Moriarty, M&A Advisor

Sean’s 40+ year business career began with 5 years in the lending industry and then transitioned to commercial Insurance where he spent 15 years as both a regional sales manager and independent commercial property casualty broker and risk manager.  Pursuing a strong desire to be in business, he transitioned to a commodity trading firm as a trader focused on the pet food marketplace and then started his own trading firm in 2002, and after a few years, purchased one of his supplier’s milling facilities that produced specialty ingredients for human and animal nutrition manufacturers.  Sean grew that facility from less than $1MM in sales to over $7MM, with distribution nationally and 10 countries worldwide and then sold it to a large grain milling company in 2012.   Sean kept the animal nutrition brand he developed in 2002 after the sale and grew sales and distribution to over 3,000 retail locations as well as the Chewy and Amazon marketplaces, selling that brand in late 2023.  After the sale of the milling assets, Sean acquired two small manufacturing companies and a drop ship HVAC supplier as well as providing consulting services to an international food ingredient manufacturer.  Sean has built a solid foundation of experience in operations management, sales, marketing and financial management.  He is excited to leverage his experience assisting business owners find the best possible exit strategies for the businesses they have built.  Sean and his wife of 38 years, enjoy spending time with their three children, extended family and new grandson, as well as exercising, beach walking, and traveling together.
